submissions

Divine Dirt Quarterly digs fresh perspectives. We want previously unpublished material that not only enlightens and entertains, but is plausible relative to the tradition(s) from which it is derived. Show us what you can excavate from between the lines of myth, legend, theology and philosophy.

Submissions are considered year-round. Upon acceptance, Divine Dirt Quarterly acquires first electronic serial rights, after which revert back to the author or artist. Submission is done so with the understanding that accepted work is archived for potential future use.

Please submit all material by email to their respective departments. The subject line of the email should read as follows: Author/Artist's first and last name, and category (fiction, art, poetry). Please provide a brief bio in the body of the email as you would like it to appear with your work should we accept it. If your work is accepted, please allow at least one issue before submitting again to allow us to cool off from your awesomeness. Simultaneous submissions are fine, so long as we are notified. Deviation from these guidelines will result in the immediate expulsion of said work to the eternal purgatory of our trash bin.

Fiction:

Character-driven prose of the literary variety in 3,000 words or less as a Word.doc attachment. This isn't the Inspiration section. If it's stuffy, formulaic, preachy, or written for the punch line, it's not for us. Make fiction submissions to Yvette Managan at: fiction@divinedirtquarterly.com

Poetry:

Elegant and without rhyme in 35 lines or less. Again, we are interested in work that carries its message subtly without bombarding the reader with a sermon disguised in verse. Please, no more than three entries per submission and place all material in the body of the email. Make poetry submissions to Kate Dixon at: poetry@divinedirtquarterly.com

Visual Art:

All visual art under submission will be considered for anthology and web journal adornment. Submit up to three pieces of your finest work, based on our prescribed tastes and themes, as a .jpg attachment to art@divinedirtquarterly.com

All other comments, questions or concerns may be addressed to Andrew Bowen abowen@divinedirtquarterly.com

We regret that we cannot pay contributors at this time.
