On
many nights, such as tonight, I think
about
this slumbering energy curled
against
me. I play God, and then wonder
what
her life would be like today had she
decided
not to trust that underneath
my
cigarettes, liquor, and selfishness,
hid
her true harmonizing energy,
a
man who would present her with the way
to
explore both sickness and silent sounds:
watch out, my
Love, now I can smell your dreams
all those places
where I’ve never been,
where a kiss is
no greater than a slap
oh,
I’m swirling energy, whispering.
